Since my first paid role as a therapist, I’ve had the opportunity to work across many sectors of society and with people from various socio-cultural backgrounds. Over time, I developed a technique for interpersonal effectiveness that focuses on Validation, Affirmation, and Encouragement (VAE). Effectively engaging in these three behaviors is essential for building self-esteem, fostering meaningful relationships, and promoting lasting change. My approach weaves this framework into evidence-based therapy for a practical, supportive, and growth-oriented experience.
Quite often, clients present with a long-standing pattern of unhealthy relationship dynamics or self-defeating behaviors, which are often rooted in deeper emotional or psychological challenges. Through open-ended therapy, we take the time to explore these patterns, trace their origins, and build awareness that allows for meaningful, sustainable change. This approach is ideal for clients ready to slow down, gain insight, and work toward long-term emotional wellness.
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is an integrative, goal-oriented approach designed to help clients find practical solutions to life’s challenges. My use of SFBT combines elements of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and my VAE model to create a supportive, efficient therapy experience. Together, we focus on identifying strengths, building skills, and creating small, manageable steps toward your desired outcome. This type of therapy typically takes place over the course of 6-8 sessions.
